On March 26, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Bartosh Tsichotski aworded the "Silver Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland" the Rector of Odessa State University of Internal Affairs Vyacheslav Abroskin.

The award ceremony took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine.

The  “Cross of  Merit”  is one of the most prestigious state awards of Poland, which was first established by the order of the President of the Republic of Poland (Second Commonwealth) of June 23, 1923. In 1944, "in order to encourage outstanding merits that contribute to the glory and interests of  Poland," the award was re-established.

Since 1960, the “Cross of Merit” has been awarded not only to Polish citizens, but also to foreigners. The award which is made by the President of the Republic of Poland at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
