Recently, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs opened its doors to the youngest guests – first-grade students of Artynov Lyceum (Vinnytsia). During the excursion, the children got acquainted with how future police officers are trained and what modern technologies are used in the educational process.
The lyceum students were welcomed by representatives of the Departments of Firearms Training and Tactical and Special Training, as well as cadets of the TST Department’s Research and Practical Club – the Tactical and special unit "SHIELD" and the ‘Wings of the Law’ Research and Practical Centre.
The lyceum students were shown how the interactive simulators work, which are used to develop the professional skills of future law enforcement officers. The children were particularly interested in the multimedia shooting range and augmented reality systems.
The lyceum students also familiarised themselves with examples of modern weaponry, special equipment and personal protective equipment – bulletproof vests and helmets – used by police officers whilst on duty.
A separate session was held to introduce to the operation of modern radio stations. The children were able to feel part of a team that coordinates actions to ensure public safety.
Considerable attention was paid to unmanned aerial vehicles. The students were told how drones assist in searching for people and monitoring security from the air. The children also had the opportunity to try their hand at piloting training drone models.
Mykhailo Burdin, Vice-Rector of the university, remarked: “It is important that respect for the law enforcement profession is instilled from childhood. When children see a police officer’s work as a combination of modern technology, responsibility and service to society, they gain a better understanding of its true social value.”
Such meetings help to foster, from an early age, a correct understanding of the work of law enforcement agencies as a field that combines security, assistance to citizens and modern technology.
