A traditional mini-football tournament was held in Vinnytsia, dedicated to the memory of the fallen special forces of the KORD unit, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The winner of the competition was the team of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs – FC Univer-Dynamo, which won the main trophy of the tournament.
On May 22, 2022, nine officers of the elite special forces unit of Vinnytsia region police were killed as a result of enemy shelling. They were performing combat missions to protect Ukraine as part of the Safari regiment. Each of them was a professional in their field, had significant combat experience and actively engaged in sports, representing their units at various competitions.
It is in honor of the fallen Heroes that this tournament is held every year, which this time brought together 14 teams - representatives of law enforcement agencies, the National Guard, educational institutions and security structures. An uncompromising struggle was waged on the football field, as each team sought to win the honorary trophy.
Before the start of the matches, the participants honored the memory of all the Defenders of Ukraine who died in the war with a minute of silence. The First Deputy Head of the Main Police Department in Vinnytsia Region - Head of the Investigation Department, Police Colonel Oleksandr Fedorchuk, emphasized that this tournament is a symbol of memory, gratitude and respect for the fallen comrades.
FC "Univer-Dynamo" confidently passed the tournament distance, demonstrating organized play, character and good team interaction. One of the most intense was the semi-final against the Main Police Department team in Vinnytsia Region. The main time ended with a score of 1:1, and in the penalty shootout, the players of Univer-Dynamo were stronger – 3:2.
In the final, KhNUIA defeated the team of Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office and deservedly became the champions of the tournament in memory of the Heroes of KORD.
