Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs trains personnel for the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, as well as for the civilian sector according to all world standards.
The Rector of the university is a corresponding member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Laws, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, General of Police of the Third Rank Valerii SOKURENKO.
Young men and women from all regions of Ukraine study at the university. By state order, cadets receive education on a full-time basis, who after graduation will work in various units of the National Police.
At the Educational and Research Institute No. 1, future employees of pre-trial investigation bodies acquire knowledge and skills with higher education degrees of bachelor and master, with a specialty of "Law".
Graduates of the Institute work as investigators of the National Police, security bodies, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation, etc.
Educational and Research Institute No. 2 trains specialists for criminal police units with the educational degree "bachelor" in the following specialties: "Law", "Law Enforcement", "Accounting and Taxation".

In the context of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, the level of extremism in the professional activities of police officers has significantly increased. Educational and Research Institute No. 4 trains future specialists in information and analytical support and cybersecurity with a bachelor's degree, in the following specialties: "Cybersecurity and Information Protection", "Information Systems and Technologies"; "Law Enforcement Activities". This is the only institute in the system of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine that trains specialists for the cyber police units of the National Police of Ukraine.
