KhNUIA: Countering Corruption: Sweden's Experience for Future Law Enforcement Officers
НАВС

Cadets of Educational and Scientific Institute No. 2, studying Law Enforcement, discussed the factors behind crime and approaches to countering corruption during a binary class in the course "Criminology."

The class was conducted by Iryna Lutsenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology, together with representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine: Josefina Lundberg Karman, Senior OSINT Adviser, and Vasyl Bodniaruk, Criminal Investigations Expert. Participants focused on the determination of crime, paying particular attention to corruption as a factor that contributes to the spread of other offences.

Josefina Lundberg Carman shared the experience of Swedish law enforcement agencies in countering corruption. Among the important conditions for combating it effectively, she named transparency in the work of public institutions, fostering zero tolerance for corruption in society, and proper anti-corruption training for future law enforcement officers.

The open discussion helped cadets deepen their knowledge of the factors behind crime and approaches to its prevention, and gave them practice in English for Specific Purposes.

The event was organised by the KhNUIA International Cooperation Department.
