Oleksandr MARUNCHAK, Head of the Department of Automotive Training of the barrier-free driving school of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, and Mykola MARCHUK, Director of the ERI No. 4, held a working meeting at CNE Vashkovetska Rehabilitation Hospital in Chernivtsi region, where military personnel from all regions of Ukraine get treatment and rehabilitation.

During the meeting with the hospital administration – Director Oleh Mamalyha and Chernivtsi Regional Council Deputy Ivan Shevchuk – they discussed the possibility of involving participants of the rehabilitation programme in training at barrier-free driving school of KhNUIA. This unique educational project was created to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to learn driving skills in comfortable and accessible conditions.

The military personnel learned about the entry terms, course organization, transport options, as well as payment and compensation for training costs. Oleksandr MARUNCHAK emphasized that the main goal of the project is to provide veterans and physically-handicapped people a real tool for returning to an active, independent life.
The meeting was another step towards strengthening cooperation between the university, medical institutions and the public sector in supporting veterans and people with disabilities by providing access to quality and adapted education.
