This day will be remembered for a long time for the freshmen of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. After completing the training camp, they received their first cadet shoulder straps.

A few months ago, it was just a dream for them to enter the university and master the profession of a police officer. Today, the shoulder straps are already on their shoulders. During this time, they have passed the first tests, got used to discipline, combat, physical and tactical training, learned to act together and be responsible not only for themselves.

For the fifth year in a row, the cadets of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs have received their first shoulder straps in conditions of a full-scale war. For them, this is not just an element of form. This is the first step to service, which requires endurance, knowledge and readiness to protect people and the state.

During the presentation of shoulder straps, the Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police General of the third rank Valerii Sokurenko addressed the freshmen: “You have just received your first shoulder straps in your life – shoulder straps of a cadet of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. You received them not in an easy time – during wartime. You have someone to take an example from. Thousands of our graduates today serve, defend our Ukraine, our native land, protect the rights and freedoms of citizens. I am sure that your parents are proud of you, and I am proud of you. Wear these shoulder straps with dignity. I believe that among you are future chiefs, future leaders of the National Police. Therefore, study, show perseverance, make every effort. Serve and study so that people respect you and the Lord God protects you! The shoulder straps will become larger, there will be more stars on them, but along with this, your responsibility will also grow. I congratulate you on receiving cadet shoulder straps! Glory to Ukraine!”

Along with the freshmen, senior cadets were also honored on this day. For their exemplary performance of their duties and conscientious attitude to the service, they were awarded the next special rank of junior police officer – “police corporal”.

All the most important things for the freshmen are now ahead – training, practice, new challenges and first professional decisions. And today, shoulder straps appeared on their shoulders, which will remind them that the path to service has already begun.
