One donation can be a chance to save a person who is fighting for life. It is with this understanding that over 200 cadets from various educational and scientific institutes of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs joined the campaign “200 Drops for Life” during the week.
Blood donation took place at Vinnytsia Regional Blood Service Center and Kamianets-Podilskyi Transfusiology Department. The campaign was made possible thanks to the university’s cooperation with blood service institutions. After the appeal of medical institutions, cadets of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs supported the initiative and joined the donation to help replenish the blood supplies needed for military and civilian patients.
For cadet of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs Nazar Sokolvak, this donation was already the third. “This is the third time I have donated blood and I understand the importance of donation in war conditions, because it can save someone’s life. If there is an opportunity to help, you need to do it,” said Nazar Sokolvak.
During the campaign, university cadets donated blood in Vinnytsia and Kamianets-Podilskyi. For some, this was their first donation, and for others, it was not their first opportunity to help those in need.
Before the procedure, everyone who wanted to donate underwent a medical examination and necessary tests, after which they could become a donor and join an important cause. “We called on cadets to join this campaign, because the blood they donate can help our defenders who were injured while performing combat missions. This is real help that can save lives,” said Mykola Koval, Head of the communications department of KhNUIA.
Vinnytsia Regional Blood Service Center emphasizes that the need for donor blood remains constant. It is used during the treatment of wounded servicemen, operations, emergency care, and treatment of patients with various diseases.
"Today, donated blood is especially needed by our defenders who are undergoing treatment after injuries. At the same time, it is also needed by civilian patients - during operations and in other emergency situations. We are grateful to the cadets of KhNUIA who became donors and supported this important initiative," said Oksana Banakh, Director of Vinnytsia Regional Blood Service Center.
The campaign "200 Drops for Life" has ended, but the need for donated blood remains daily. Each donated portion of blood can become part of the help to a specific person - a military or civilian patient who needs it right now.
