A training course for academic staff on the identification of explosive ordnance and mine safety has been completed at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The participants worked out algorithms of actions in case of detection of suspicious objects, considered the peculiarities of evacuation of the population in a big city and worked out responding to relevant messages.

The final stage of the course was practical testing in conditions as close as possible to real ones. The participants took the final exam in a field format: models of explosive ordnance, visually and tactilely close to combat samples, were placed in advance in urban infrastructure facilities. The participants were not told where these locations were, so they followed the procedures designed for real-life situations.

«We deliberately design our training in such a way that it is as close as possible to real conditions, because mine safety – is not a theory, but a life-saving skill. It is nice to note that the course participants demonstrated a high level of interest, responsibility and readiness to work in difficult conditions», – noted Tetra Tech instructor Oleksii Kolbun.

All training participants successfully passed the final test and received certificates. They were presented by Vasyl Kikinchuk, Director of the Educational and Research Institute No.2, together with Tetra Tech instructors Vadym Nikitchyn and Oleksii Kolbun.

«Today's result – is not only successfully passed exams, but also a real increase in the level of safety in the educational environment. The acquired knowledge and skills will allow academic staff to qualitatively transfer important information to cadets and form in them the correct algorithms of actions in life-threatening situations», – noted Vasyl Kikinchuk.

The acquired competences will allow academic staff of the university to conduct mine safety classes for cadets and personnel within the educational programs of the university.
