A sports and patriotic holiday was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs on the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine.
After the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine, those present observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of those who showed patriotism, courage, loyalty, heroism and laid down their lives for the unity and independence of our state.
The Rector of the university, Valerii SOKURENKO, addressed the participants. He emphasized that the profession of a police officer requires toughness, endurance, strong moral and willpower, and readiness to defend the state, freedom, and democracy at any moment. Valerii Vasylovych paid special attention to the role of sports in the education and training of future law enforcement officers. He wished the youth success in competitions, bright victories, and, most importantly, never to stop at what has been achieved, to constantly work on themselves and improve their abilities both in studies and in sports.
The First Vice-Rector Viktor VASYLENKO, Vice-Rectors Serhii BORTNYK and Oleksandr MUZYCHUK, as well as Directors of Educational and Research Institutes took part in the sports events.
The combined teams of Educational and Research Institutes No. 1-5 competed in several disciplines: kettlebell snatch, gymnastic and strength complex, and tug-of-war. The atmosphere of the competition was tense and at the same time friendly - each participant sought to prove their skills and support the team.
The winners and prize-winners were determined based on the results in each sport.
Kettlebell snatch:
