Representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs took part in an online event "Child-Friendly Justice Standards in Criminal Proceedings in Ukraine: Presentation of the Trial Monitoring and Research Report" which was organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.
Keynote speakers include: Lyudmyla Denisova, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights; Ambassador Henrik Villadsen, OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; Aksana Filipishyna, Representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Observance of the Rights of the Child and the Family; Nataliia Stupnytska, Rule of Law and Human Rights National Programme Manager of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; Valeria Rybak, Director of the NGO “Human Rights Vector”, co-ordinator of the project “Trial in a human language”, expert of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; Maksym Sereda, Expert of the Centre for Policy and Legal Reform, expert of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; Liliia Oliinyk, advocate, expert of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; Roman Kuybida, Deputy Chairman of the Center for Policy and Legal Reform, expert of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine; Larysa Denysenko, Lawyer, Writer, Human Rights Activist, Event moderator.
The results of the pilot monitoring and research, conducted in 2020, on compliance of courts and guardianship authorities with the child-friendly justice standards in criminal and administrative proceedings were presented during the event timed to the occasion of the International Children’s Day. Participants had a chance to dive into the real experiences of monitors and researchers, learned about the international standards and practices in children’s rights protection in criminal justice, and discussed concrete ways to improve the protection of children’s rights in Ukraine.
