Every year in March, the Public Organization “Innovative Horizons of Ukraine” holds the Essay Contest for Pupils and Students “My Shevchenko”. Its goal is to popularize the creative heritage of Taras Shevchenko, preserve the memory of the Kobzar and his role in forming the spiritual foundations of the Ukrainian nation, as well as to affirm the moral and ethical precepts of the artist as an important factor in consolidating society. Each participant has the opportunity to demonstrate their own understanding of the phenomenon of T. Shevchenko, the relevance of his instructions for future generations. This year, the contest received the status of International, uniting around the figure of the Kobzar participants not only from all regions of Ukraine, but also from abroad.

The organizing committee received 1,199 works. Pupils and students competed in six categories. Each work was evaluated by three members of the jury, and at the final meeting of the organizing committee, the results were summed up and the winners were awarded.

132 participants from leading universities of Ukraine competed in the category “Higher Education Institutions”. According to the results of the Competition, student Olha DOMITRYSHYNA took second place with the work “Conversation with Taras” and received a diploma of the 2nd degree. The scientific supervisor is Associate Professor of the Department of Humanities and Ukrainian Studies, Candidate of Philological Sciences Natalia KOBYLKO. The diploma of the 3rd degree was awarded to cadet Kyrylo TARASENKO with the creative work “Shevchenko and Music: Dialogue Through the Centuries”, performed under the scientific supervision of the senior lecturer of the Department of Humanities and Ukrainian Studies, Candidate of Philological Sciences Natalia YELNIKOVA.
