KhNUIA Supports Veterans’ Physical Recovery Through Adaptive Sports Training
НАВС

Kyrylo Nedilko is a combat veteran who served on the Kharkiv front from May 2023. He has been officially recognised as a person with a war-related disability. He is currently participating in adaptive sports training under the guidance of Andrii Ladyniak, a lecturer at the Department of Special Physical Training of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs (KhNUIA).

The latest training session focused on developing muscular strength and endurance. The programme included exercises using medicine balls, resistance bands, a barbell and a kettlebell. The training load was tailored to the veteran’s physical capabilities, with the intensity gradually increased.

A key feature of adaptive training is the ability to tailor exercises to individual needs by adjusting the weight, level of difficulty, number of repetitions and pace of execution. This personalised approach enables participants to develop their physical abilities safely while maintaining regular physical activity.

At KhNUIA, adaptive sports training is an important component of physical rehabilitation and recovery for veterans. These sessions help participants maintain their physical fitness, gradually regain confidence in their physical abilities and return to an active lifestyle.
