KhNUIA: Adaptive Sports as a Key Component of Veterans’ Physical Recovery
НАВС

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs (KhNUIA) continues its efforts to support the physical recovery of veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war through adaptive sports activities.

This time, Ihor Boiko, Lecturer at the Department of Special Physical Training, conducted a strength-building session for war veteran Anatolii Stinskyi, a combat veteran, flamethrower operator, and soldier of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Zakarpattia Brigade, who defended Ukraine in the Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia sectors.

The training programme included exercises with a barbell, dumbbells, and a kettlebell. The exercise routine is designed to develop overall strength, improve balance and coordination, and strengthen muscles. Training with free weights allows for the gradual development of strength and endurance while improving grip strength and movement coordination.

This training approach makes it possible to gradually adjust the intensity of exercises according to an individual's physical capabilities. Adaptive sports are an important component of veterans’ physical recovery, helping them maintain physical activity, improve their well-being, and gradually return to their usual daily routines.
