KhNUIA: Current competitions and partnership in project proposals in the area of ‘Civilian Security for Society’

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs hosted an online information event on the topic: ‘The European Union's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe’. Current Calls for Proposals and Partnerships in the area of Civilian Security for Society’. The event was organised with the assistance of the Department of International Cooperation of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The speakers at the event were representatives of the National Contact Points of the Horizon Europe Programme in Ukraine in the area of Civilian Security for Society, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksii Serdiuk, Head of the Research Laboratory for Social and Psychological Support, Assistance and Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Educational and Research Institute No. 3 of KhNUIA, Oleksandr Chemeris, Deputy Director for Research of Pukhov Institute for Modelling Problems in Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Tetiana Matiushkova, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of KhNUIA.

The event was attended by lawyers, attorneys, academic staff of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, representatives of other higher education institutions with specific training conditions: Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, National Academy of Internal Affairs, Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.

The event was opened by Police Colonel Oleksandr Muzychuk, Vice-Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, who wished the participants fruitful work and noted that such information events are important for all higher education institutions interested in participating in Horizon Europe projects.

Tetiana Matiushkova introduced the participants to the sources of information about the European Union's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation ‘Horizon Europe’, spoke about the experience of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs in creating a network of researchers to actively engage in the joint development of research projects, search for partners, submit joint applications for participation in certain programmes, etc.

Oleksandr Chemeris highlighted the history of the Horizon Europe Network and its functions, the general structure and mission of the Horizon Europe Programme, and shared his own experience of participating in projects.

Oleksii Serdiuk introduced the participants to the structure of the European Commission's portal and the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, the existing project areas of the Horizon Europe Programme, and reviewed in detail the current project proposals under Cluster 3 ‘Civilian Security for Society’ in the following areas Fighting crime and terrorism, disaster management system, cybersecurity, support for security research and innovation, infrastructure research, and also acquainted the audience with the peculiarities of finding foreign and national partners to participate in international research projects, forming a consortium to participate in the Horizon Europe Programme, types and timing of applications review by the European Commission, etc.
