KhNUIA: a conversation about dignity and responsibility
НАВС

As part of the events dedicated to the Day of Dignity and Freedom, higher education students had the opportunity to meet a man whose creativity, civic position and military path have become an integral part of the modern history of Ukraine. Serhii PANTIUK – a writer and journalist, publisher and military man, since 2014, whose trail has been running through the hotlines of Donetsk region, Kyiv region, Kharkiv region and Bakhmut region – visited the university. Wherever he was – in the trenches, at the editor's desk or in front of the youth, he always remained true to word and duty.

Serhii PANTIUK – is the author of nineteen poetry collections and eight prose books, including the novel «War and We» and the science adventure novel «Vinci and Edison». His texts, written for both children and adults, have long been included in school programme. His accurate and attentive editorial eye presented the world with Borys HUMENIUK's landmark collection «Poems from the War». Winner of numerous awards, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, and sometimes – actor who appeared on the theater stage and in short films, – he appears as a person in whom different worlds are amazingly intertwined.

During the meeting, they talked about the most difficult dilemmas facing law enforcement officers at times when the state is going through trials. About those moments when professional endurance and moral core become more expensive than orders, when the ability to maintain a balance between law, conscience and reality determines the destinies of people and even the direction of the country's development. Serhii shared front stories, talked about the ethics of choice, about the responsibility that lies with each of us, and about humanity – fragile but necessary, which is so easy to lose and so difficult to preserve.

The event was organized and conducted by the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work.
