A sports and patriotic holiday was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs on the occasion of the Day of the State Flag and the Day of Independence of Ukraine. The teams of freshmen of the camp assembly competed.

After the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine, those present honored the patriotism, courage, loyalty and heroism of those who laid down their lives for the unity and independence of Ukraine with a minute of silence.

On behalf of the Rector of the university Valerii Sokurenko, the First Vice-Rector Viktor Vasylenko addressed the freshmen. He emphasized that the profession of a police officer requires toughness, endurance, strong moral and willpower, and readiness at any moment to defend the state, freedom and democracy. Viktor Mykhailovych paid special attention to the role of sport in the education and training of future law enforcement officers, because it is thanks to sports competitions that students have the opportunity to reveal their leadership qualities and find friends.

Vice-Rector, Head of the camp Serhii Bortnyk wished the youth inspiration, strength of spirit, will to win and called on the first-year students to have successful starts, persistent struggle, and high sporting achievements.

The boys and girls demonstrated their skills and physical potential in pull-ups on a high bar, track and field relay and tug-of-war, as well as in playing football.

According to the results of the competitions, the winners and prize-winners in the team competition and in each type of competition were awarded diplomas of the corresponding degrees, and the best athletes will be recommended to the university teams in various sports.
