KhNUIA: Participation in the Summer School on Criminal Justice 2025
НАВС

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs cadets Danylo TESLIA and Roman MAKIIEVSKYI are participating in the Summer School on Criminal Justice 2025, which is taking place in Kyiv. The event brought together 26 participants selected from 151 candidates.

The program is designed to become a bridge between students and criminal justice institutions, to unite future lawyers with practitioners and to form human-centered approaches in law. According to the organizers, this school is an investment in knowledge and skills that never depreciates, even in times of greatest challenges.

The first day was devoted to the practice of the ECHR: participants saw how the Court's decisions are changing Ukrainian justice, analyzed real cases against Ukraine and discussed the boundaries between the right to privacy and the professional duties of a lawyer.

During the panel discussion, speakers – Rasim BABANLY (Supreme Court), Vira MYKHAYLENKO (High Anti-Corruption Court), Daria SVYRYDOVA (Bar Association), Veronika PLOTNIKOVA (Prosecutor General’s Office) and Kirsty SUTHERLAND (IBA) – helped participants to consider the topic of the right to privacy in the context of procedural actions in a broader way.

The summer school will last five days, after which the best participants will get a chance to participate in an international online course on international law from IBA and Florida State University.
The project is implemented by JustGroup with the support of the International Bar Association, the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine – Kyiv, Norsk senter for menneskerettigheter – Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and Azones in partnership with the Supreme Court, the High Anti-Corruption Court, the Faculty of Law of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and the Faculty of Law of the Ukrainian Catholic University.
