KhNUIA: Honoring the memory of Holocaust victims
НАВС

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, cadets and students of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs laid flowers at memorials and observed a minute of silence to honour the memory of millions of innocent Jews and members of other national minorities who were killed during World War II.

Holocaust – is a targeted policy of persecution and mass destruction of the Jewish people carried out by the Nazi regime during World War II. On November 1, 2005, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution № 60/7, which emphasizes that the «Holocaust, which led to the extermination of one-third of Jews and countless other nationalities, will always serve as a warning to humanity about the dangers of hatred, bigotry, racism and prejudice...».

By that resolution, 27 January was proclaimed International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It was on this day in 1945 that the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front liberated the Nazi death camp Auschwitz –, one of the most terrible symbols of crimes against humanity.
