On November 25, 2020, the 16th All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference "Ukrainian Language in Jurisprudence: Status, Problems and Prospects" took place on the basis of the National Academy of Internal Affairs. Given the anti-epidemic measures, this year's scientific meeting was held by video conference using the ZOOM platform.

The moderator of the event was a senior lecturer at the Department of Legal Linguistics Halyna Protsenko. She managed to create a special atmosphere of a scientific celebration. Conference participants, regardless of age and experience, felt themselves like welcome guests, not just speakers or listeners at the monitor.

At the beginning of the event, the first vice-rector of the Academy, Doctor of Law, Professor Colonel of Police Stanislav Husariev addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, noting the importance of a comprehensive scientific examination of the language usage in the legal field.

To the congratulatory words joined: Scientific Secretary of the Academic Council, Candidate of Law, Professor Vitalii Vasylevych, testifying to the paramount importance of this already traditional scientific event for the progress of the scientific continuum in Ukraine, Acting Head of the Department of Legal Linguistics Igor Romanov, who stressed that the conference is especially relevant given the diversity of language issues in modern society, and Head of the Department for the Preparation of Educational and Scientific Publications Anhelina Yakovleva, who noted that the editors of special legal literature have been learning in their own experience about the extreme importance of using the linguistics achievements in jurisprudence.

The conference was attended by leading scientists, researchers and teaching staff of such Ukrainian scientific institutions and higher education institutions as: Institute of Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukrainian Lingua-Information Fund of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv National Linguistic University, National Aviation University, Academy of Municipal Administration, National Academy of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, Ukrainian State University of Finance and International Trade, Zaporizhzhia National University, Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, Odessa State University of Internal Affairs, National Pedagogical Drahomanov University and others.

In their reports, the conference participants covered the role of language in the field of law, discussed ways to solve linguistic problems of terminology and analyzed the specifics of the linguistic knowledge usage in practical legal activities.

Nataliia Artykutsa, a representative of the Ukrainian School of Lawmaking at the Institute of Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor, noted the high level of scientific achievements of the conference participants and its organization in online communication format as well as the interest of higher education applicants in research in the field of language and law.

Applicants for higher education at the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine actively joined the discussion about topical issues of jurisprudence. The following reports should be noted as the most interesting:

- "Legal text as a structural entity" - Kraievskyi Oleh, a graduate of ESI № 3;

- "Legal technique as a criterion for the definition of law" - Lahodych Tetiana, a graduate of ESI № 1;

- "Language as a form for expression of law" - Olkhovska Sofiia, a graduate of ESI № 3.

Thus, the XVI All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference "Ukrainian Language in Jurisprudence: Status, Problems and Prospects" convincingly confirmed its relevance in modern scientific studies and the importance of a comprehensive scientific analysis on the use of language in the legal field.
