Аn information session was held at OSUIA for higher education cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine on the topic: «Communicating with People with Disabilities». The event was conducted by Hennadii Medvediev, a trainer in physical and mental rehabilitation at the Odesa Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross, with the assistance of the project coordinator in the region, Olena Korablova, and employees of the Odesa City Organization.

During the session, key recommendations were highlighted regarding appropriate communication with people with disabilities, the specifics of accompanying and interacting with people with various forms of impairments, including vision and hearing impairments, people with intellectual disabilities, or those with mobility impairments. Special attention was paid to the rules for using correct terminology and wording that contribute to creating an atmosphere of respect and tolerance.

Cadets had the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge during practical exercises aimed at developing models of communication with people with disabilities in various life situations.

Such events help future law enforcement officers develop professional ethics, tolerance, and a non-discriminatory approach in their work.
