For Vladyslav Kochyn, a third-year cadet of the ERI No. 4 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, the words “To serve the Ukrainian people” are not a slogan, but a life choice. It was he who determined his future profession, daily work and desire to constantly develop.
While still at school, Vladyslav became interested in computer technologies. He was interested in how digital systems work, what threats exist in cyberspace and how information can be protected from attackers. Over time, this passion grew into a professional choice - studying for the specialization “Cybersecurity”.

“It is important for me to be needed by people and to know that I can come to their aid at any time. That is why I chose to serve in the police and the direction of cybersecurity, which today is one of the key ones for protecting the state,” says Vladyslav.
His parents supported his mother, an English teacher, always motivated his son to study and not stop there.

Vladyslav considers the course of a young fighter to be the biggest test during his studies. It is there, he recalls, that the character of a future police officer is formed.
“We learned to work as a team, support each other, and be responsible not only for ourselves, but also for our comrades. This experience remains important to me today.”
Today, Vladyslav is the deputy head of the cyber center of KhNUIA. He combines study, practical work, and constant professional development.

Sport plays an equally important role in his life. In his school years, he was engaged in kickboxing, and today he regularly maintains physical fitness. He is convinced that a modern law enforcement officer must be strong not only intellectually, but also physically.
Another area of his development is foreign languages. Vladyslav is fluent in English and German, participates in international educational projects and scientific events. In particular, he is a participant in the “A Way to Europe” project, which helps students of KhNUIA improve their English.

The cadet pays special attention to science. He studies at the School of Scientific Leadership, works in several scientific circles and already has significant results. Over the years of study, Vladyslav has prepared 57 scientific publications, including articles in professional Ukrainian and international publications and dozens of abstracts for scientific and practical conferences, including in English.
His desire to constantly improve his professional skills is confirmed by dozens of certificates in cybersecurity, digital literacy, network technologies, artificial intelligence, OSINT analytics, ethical hacking and information security. Vladyslav obtained them on the platforms Cisco Networking Academy, Prometheus, “Diya.Osvita” and other educational resources.
Outside the classroom, he also does not stay away from socially important matters. He helps conduct career orientation events for future entrants, tells schoolchildren about cybersecurity training, participates in blood donation, weaving camouflage nets, collecting humanitarian aid for Ukrainian defenders, and supporting wounded soldiers.

It was the combination of professional training, scientific work, volunteering, and active civic position that became the basis for nominating Vladyslav Kochyn for the Pylyp Orlyk Prize of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The submission noted his contribution to the development of the volunteer movement, the popularization of digital literacy and cyber hygiene, countering Russian propaganda on the Internet, and active research activities.
Vladyslav Kochyn’s story is an example of what a modern law enforcement officer should be like. Professional, disciplined, open to new knowledge, and caring about people. After all, protecting the state today is not only a service with weapons in hand, but also a daily struggle for the security of Ukraine in cyberspace.
