Artem Makarov received the award on September 17, 2024, during the celebrations on the occasion of the Day of the Rescuer with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On the Day of Rescuer, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, congratulated them on the holiday and awarded them with state awards.
A ceremony was also held to award the winners of the All-Ukrainian campaign “Hero - Rescuer of the Year”. Eight Ukrainians received awards from the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and the Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andrii Danik, including Artem Makarov, a 2nd year cadet of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

This year, in April, Artem Makarov saved a little boy whose mother was trying to drown him in a river.
