Cadets from OSUIA visited the Odesa Scientific and Expert Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine

First-year cadets from the Educational and Research Institute for Training Specialists for the Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine OSUIA visited the Odesa Research and Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The event was organized by Tetiana HARBUZ, head of the Handwriting Analysis, Technical Document Examination, and Record-Keeping Section, under the guidance of Yuliana LVOVA, the institution’s acting director, who spoke to the cadets about the center’s main areas of work and the practical aspects of a forensic expert’s work.

During the tour, the cadets learned about the work of the units conducting explosive, fire, handwriting, computer, and telecommunications investigations, as well as investigations in the field of information technology; they visited the ballistics records department and the narcotics analysis laboratory; and they also toured the mobile forensic laboratory, which is used for on-site investigations.

The visit gave the future law enforcement officers a practical understanding of how specialized knowledge and modern technologies are used in the investigation of criminal offenses.

Artem PYTOMETS, a lecturer in the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics at OSUIA, was responsible for organizing and conducting the event.
