Сadets from Odesa State University of Internal Affairs participated in an OSCE Summer School focused on preventing and combating domestic violence.

The event’s program was designed to help future police officers develop practical skills in identifying and assessing risks and responding appropriately to cases of domestic violence, as well as to foster an understanding of the legal and psychological aspects of working with victims and perpetrators.

The training covered international and European standards for the prevention of domestic violence, provisions of national legislation, forms and manifestations of violence, and the psychological characteristics of victims and perpetrators.

An important component of the program was the cadets’ practical work with scenario-based exercises, group work, and the simulation of real-life situations. Participants practiced police response protocols, analyzed common mistakes made when documenting cases, and examined the specific dynamics of collaboration among agencies involved in preventing and combating domestic violence.

Among the trainers at the event was Police Major Olena Kovalova, a professor in the Department of Police Administration at the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, who combined theoretical instruction with practical exercises and professional analysis of typical operational situations.
