The Dutch experience are given to employees of preventive units of the National Police of Ukraine
On September 23, the National Academy of Internal Affairs held a training "Ensuring the use of child-friendly procedures in criminal proceedings" for listeners of advanced training (employees of preventive units of the NPU) to investigate certain categories of criminal offenses in the form of interrogation.

On September 23, the National Academy of Internal Affairs held a training "Ensuring the use of child-friendly procedures in criminal proceedings" for listeners of advanced training (employees of preventive units of the NPU) to investigate certain categories of criminal offenses in the form of interrogation.

The event was supported by the All-Ukrainian Foundation for the Protection of Children's Rights in partnership with the Dutch section of the Defence for Children International–ECPAT within the joint project "Strengthening the system of child protection related to the children in conflict with the law in Ukraine."

Welcoming speech were made by the first vice-rector of the Academy, police colonel Stanislav Husariev, the president of the foundation Yevheniia Pavlova and the vice president - Oleksii Lazarenko, who noted on the urgency of the chosen issues and the need for effective reform of justice system for children in our country and the creation of a child-friendly justice sector in which children are protected and their rights are respected.

First training was organized by Dutch colleagues in January 2020. This time the scientific and pedagogical workers of the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Police Major Yuliia Sukhomlyn, Lieutenant Colonel of Police Oksana Melnyk and Maryna Pashkovska conducted it independently as certified trainers.

The training was based on the experience of Dutch colleagues in the field of protection of the rights and legitimate interests of children during the pre-trial investigation, as well as a set of practical tasks aimed at developing skills in working with children, who are in conflict with the law.

The purpose of the event is to provide advisory assistance to practitioners on the implementation of children's rights in the system of protection; to provide justice for children in conflict with the law; to familiarize with the interrogation process for minors; to study basic concepts and international standards for children rights.

 

The practical part of the training took place at the "Green Room" training ground of the NAIA.

The participants of the training gained valuable experience, which will definitely be needed by the employees of the preventive units of the NPU during their practical activities.
