Iryna Zalievska, associate professor in the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, and Oleksandr Uhryn, an instructor in the same department, conducted a joint practical session with cadets from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Bodies at the National Police of Ukraine on the topic: «Tactics for Small Groups Operating in Open Terrain».

Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Melnychuk, a combat veteran, assistant to the chief of the Southern Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine for veteran policy, and former commander of a special operations group within a separate special operations unit, was invited to participate in the session.

During the session, a number of examples were presented regarding the tactical actions of police officers and members of the National Guard of Ukraine. The specifics of small-group operations in open terrain and communication challenges were discussed.

The speaker discussed combat formations and the areas in which they are deployed. Joint measures and differences in the operations of the National Police of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on the personal safety of personnel and the use of available ammunition.
