Demyd Morozov, a professor in the Department of Operational and Investigative Activities at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, conducted a joint practical training session for first- and second-year cadets at the Educational and Research Institute for Training Specialists for the Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine.

Leading experts from the 5th Directorate (Analytical Intelligence) of the National Police of Ukraine’s Department for Combating Drug-Related Crime were invited to participate in the event.

The cadets heard from Police Major Yaroslav Kuzmuk, head of the department, who presented unique case studies, revealing details of successful operations to dismantle drug networks, and Chief Investigator of the 2nd Division, Police Captain Vira Yermak, who addressed the topic «The Digital Trail of Drug Crime: The Potential of OSINT», demonstrating search tools in open sources for de-anonymizing criminals.

The professional discussion continued with a presentation by Senior Police Lieutenant Vladyslav Shelekhov, a senior operative officer with the Internal Affairs Department’s 1st Division, titled «Cryptocurrencies as a Tool for Illegal Drug Trafficking: Analysis and Investigation», in which he provided a detailed overview of blockchain intelligence methods.

This interactive session significantly deepened the cadets’ understanding of modern methods for combating drug-related crime that utilize the Internet, allowing these young professionals to witness the real-world transformation of traditional investigative work into a high-tech process.
