OSUIA: Two-day training session: «A Gender-Sensitive Approach to Communicating with Victims of Violence in Armed Conflict»

Аt Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the EUAM, the Department of Police Administration, and the Center for Gender Education, the «Security Space» Research and Analytical Center, a two-day training session titled «A Gender-Sensitive Approach to Communicating with Victims of Violence in Armed Conflict» was held for police representatives and psychologists from the Main Department of the National Police in the Kherson region.

The event was designed to enhance the professional competencies of specialists in the field of gender-sensitive communication, provide support to victims of violence, prevent secondary traumatization, and improve skills in interagency coordination and the effective referral of victims to appropriate support services.

Participants addressed issues related to gender-based violence under martial law, the specifics of communicating with victims, the psychology of trauma, risk assessment, and providing information about rights and available services; they also worked through practical case studies and role-playing scenarios.

The trainers for the event were: Georgios Pokas, Senior Advisor on General Police Operations at EUAM; Hannah Carson, Advisor / Trainer on Criminal Investigations at EUAM; Olha Radkevych, EUAM Training and Education Expert; Olena Kovalova, Professor at the Department of Police Administration, Odesa State University of Internal Affairs; Liubov Berezovenko, Assistant to the University Rector on Gender Issues; Viktoriia Tkachenko, Specialist on the Prevention and Combating of Gender-Based Violence at the CO «The Tenth Of April», and Mykyta Permiakov, Head of the NGO «Alliance оf Mental Health».
