Оn November 29, as part of the 16 Days Against Violence campaign, on the occasion of World HIV/AIDS Day, the Associate Professor of the Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Department of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel of Police Olha Korzhenko and Assistant Rector for Gender Issues Liubov Berezovenko organized an information and educational event for university students.
The speakers were Olena Pavlenko, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Odesa National Medical University, and Olena Shepel, an infectious disease specialist at the State Institution “Territorial Medical Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Odesa Oblast” Olena Shepel.
During the event, the speakers informed about the ways of transmission, prevention methods, modern approaches to treatment, and safety rules while performing their duties.
These events help not only to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS among higher education students, but also to destroy myths and stereotypes associated with these diseases.
