Viktoriia Tomina, Associate Professor of the Department of Police Administrative Activities at the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, held a binary lecture on the academic discipline “Ensuring Human Rights in Police Activities” for third-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Preventive Activities of the National Police of Ukraine.

On behalf of Mariia Popova, Representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in the Odesa region, Serhii Fisiukov, regional coordinator for public relations of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, and Oleksiy Zhuk, regional coordinator of the Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of National Minorities (communities) and indigenous peoples, Oleksii Zhuk.


During the lecture, the participants discussed the topic “Human rights and the police: zero tolerance for torture and discrimination.”


The speakers shared their experience in identifying and recording signs of ill-treatment of detainees and convicts, and provided useful advice and recommendations.
