OSUIA Mediation Center hosted a training session titled «Mediation, Conflict Management, and De-escalation Techniques in the Work of Ukrainian Law Enforcement Agencies».

The event, organized in close cooperation with EUAM, served as an important platform for transforming approaches to conflict management under martial law. The training program is designed for patrol officers, community police officers, and beat officers.

An intensive exchange of experiences became a key component of the program. Officers from various units shared real-world case studies, analyzing mistakes and working together to find solutions that help maintain public trust even in the most critical situations.

Under the guidance of trainers Georgios Pokas, Olha Radkevych, Poliny Baltadzhy, and Liliia Matvieieva, participants worked through a series of simulations. These were not fictional scenarios, but real-life challenges of today. Each police officer had the opportunity to «try on» the role of a mediator and learned to find a solution based on the Win-Win model, where common sense and community safety prevail over force. The final stage of the training involved mastering mentoring skills.

«We gained not just tools and techniques, but a new perspective on our role-techniques for transforming conflict into constructive dialogue, where the law and humanity work in harmony», the participants concluded during the final reflection session.
