OSUIA: Participation in the «Winter School for Investigation of Crimes Related to Human Trafficking»
НАВС

In the period from February 24 to 28, representatives of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs participated in the Winter School on Investigating Crimes Related to Human Trafficking (Lviv), organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

The event was joined by Viktor YAROSH, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology of the Faculty of Training for Pre-trial Investigation of the National Police of Ukraine, Kateryna HERASYMCHUK, Sofiia PSOTA, Stanislav MAKAROV and Denys PATLATIUK, cadets of the 311th Platoon of the said faculty, and Anatolii TERLETSKYI, lecturer of the Department of Administrative and Legal Disciplines of the Institute of Law and Security.

During the winter school, the participants were able to share their knowledge, experience, gain new theoretical knowledge and, most importantly, practical skills in investigating criminal offenses related to human trafficking. In particular, during the training, the cadets conducted simulation exercises on conducting searches, interrogating underage victims of various forms of exploitation, examining items and documents, searching for information from open sources, etc.

The cadets of OSUIA demonstrated an extremely high level of professional training, took an active part in teamwork, and in fact took on the role of «locomotives» in their teams. For example, for the first time during such trainings, it was cadet of OSUIA Stanislav Makarov who «eliminated» a criminal actor who tried to snatch a «weapon» during a search. In all previous cases, it was the «criminal» who either «killed» the participants or took them hostage.

At the same time, the teachers were the “antennae” - that is, they observed the actions of the respective team, and after the simulation exercise, they provided advice and guidance on how to avoid certain mistakes.

As a result of the event, the cadets received certificates of completion of the course, and the instructors received the status of trainers in conducting simulation exercises to combat human trafficking.

In addition, the teaching staff of the educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine developed new simulation exercises during the training, which will be implemented in educational processes.
