OSUIA library hosted a regular meeting of the scientific and practical club «Advocacy» on the topic: «Ethics and professional responsibility of a lawyer: challenges of modernity».

The event brought together students, academics, and practicing lawyers to discuss the moral principles of the legal profession and current ethical challenges in the work of a lawyer.

Fourth-year students Dariia BEREZHNA and Ilona KASHCHYNA gave a presentation in which they examined in detail the main provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Lawyers and their practical application.

Lecturers of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines, lawyers Nataliia BILAK, Serhii SAINCHYN, and Yevheniia TSYMAR drew the attention of those present to the ethical standards of the profession, the peculiarities of the relationship between lawyers and the court and colleagues, as well as the practical aspects of disciplinary responsibility for violations of professional norms.

Honored guests of the event, practicing lawyers Serhii LUZHANOV and Ihor MARAKUSHEV, joined the discussion and, together with students, discussed specific issues of defense in criminal proceedings, in particular professional and ethical dilemmas in the work of a lawyer.

The Head of the Club, Artem PYTOMETS, a lecturer at the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, was responsible for organizing and conducting the event.
