Memory as the basis of the future: educational lecture for cadets of DSUIA
НАВС

Participation in the event to the Day of Mourning and honoring the memory of the victims of war in Ukraine was taken by cadets of DSUIA, listeners of TsSPP "Academy of Police" and pupils of Dnipro Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The speaker was the chief specialist of the Second Interregional Territorial Department of the Department of ensuring the implementation of the policy of national memory in the regions and subordinate institutions of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Iryna Reva.

Iryna Reva told those present about the historical events that preceded the beginning of the Second World War, the causes and consequences of this global conflict, as well as about the heroic contribution of the Ukrainian people to the victory over Nazism.

During the lecture, those present watched video materials and archival records, which over many years were collected during interviews with participants of combat actions. Such unique testimonies of eyewitnesses gave the opportunity to the listeners to understand deeper the events of the war, to feel their emotional component and to hear the real stories of people who became direct participants of historical events.

At the end of the meeting, Iryna Reva handed over to the library of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs already the third book. This time, the library fund was replenished with the publication of Oksana Kalishchuk "Aroma of memory and history with a taste of bitterness".

The donated book will become a valuable source for cadets, scientific-pedagogical workers and all who are interested in history, issues of preservation of national memory and comprehension of past events.

Similar events contribute to a respectful attitude to the history of one's people, form national consciousness, counteract historical falsifications and educate in future law enforcement officers a feeling of patriotism, responsibility for the preservation of historical truth and readiness to protect Ukraine from any forms of aggression.

The Day of Mourning and honoring the memory of the victims of war – this is a day of memory in Ukraine. It is observed annually on June 22, on the day of the beginning of the German-Soviet war (1941-1945), which took the life of every fifth Ukrainian.
