Beyond the uniform: the path to cyber police
НАВС

Roman Stetsyk, a 3rd year cadet of the ERI No. 4, became the only representative of Ukraine to receive two prestigious international scholarships from the ISACA Foundation at once - Lummio Cybersecurity Scholarship and Digital Trust Scholarship. In addition, he received a comprehensive career development package that opens access to the professional community, specialized courses and international virtual conferences.

These achievements are not a coincidence, but the result of systematic work on himself. Since his school years, Roman has demonstrated a high level of responsibility and perseverance: he graduated from school with a gold medal, and is now an honors student at KhNUIA. He devotes a significant part of his time to studying, self-development and deepening his professional competencies. He pays special attention to learning English, because it is it that opens access to current knowledge in the field of cybersecurity.

“For me, cyberpolice is not just a profession, but an opportunity to really influence the security of the state, protect people and counteract threats in the digital space. Perseverance, discipline and constant improvement are the basis of professionalism,” the cadet notes.

Today, Roman is already actively realizing himself in his professional activities. He is the leader of the “ATD” project (analytical tasks department) of the 8th department of the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police of Ukraine, performs the duties of assistant to the head of the educational and training center for search and analytical work in the cybersphere of KhNUIA, and also cooperates with units of the National Police in the direction of countering Russian propaganda on the Internet.
For his active civic position, effective interaction with the Cyberpolice Department and significant contribution to countering aggression in cyberspace, Roman received a Gratitude from the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

In addition, he heads the ISACA cadet group at the university, participates in the work of the Center for Digital Awareness and Cyber Hygiene, where he creates infographics and information materials aimed at increasing the level of digital security of the population, and regularly participates in the activities of the School of Scientific Leadership.

His scientific achievements are no less significant: more than 30 scientific publications, participation in all-Ukrainian and international conferences, as well as obtaining the BTL1 (Blue Team Level 1) certificate, which confirms practical skills in the field of cyber security. In addition, Roman has completed dozens of courses, trainings and webinars, which is confirmed by more than 80 certificates.

“In this field, it is impossible to stop there – technologies change every day, and you either develop with them or fall behind. That is why I try to constantly learn and improve my skills,” adds Roman.

Along with his studies, he is actively involved in volunteer activities: he donates blood, participates in the production of camouflage nets, and also conducts educational work on cyber hygiene and digital security.
His family played an important role in shaping his values: his parents served in the National Guard of Ukraine. That is why the desire to serve the state, help people, and counteract modern threats in cyberspace became a conscious professional choice for him.
Today, Roman Stetsyk is confidently moving towards his goal - to become a specialist in the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine. His story is already an example of how perseverance, determination, and constant development yield tangible results.
