Training Ground Practice: KhNUIA Cadets Learn the Rules of Handling Explosive Ordnance
НАВС

The training ground of the Demining Training Centre became a place for cadets of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs to practise the skills a police officer needs when dealing with explosive objects.

First, the cadets studied the classification of explosive objects, the main signs of contaminated areas, and the characteristics of places where explosive ordnance may be found. Special attention was paid to the algorithm of a police officer's actions after receiving a report of a suspicious object.

At the training ground, the cadets examined training models of various types of mines, artillery shells, multiple launch rocket system munitions, UAV warheads, and other explosive objects. Specialists from the Centre demonstrated their construction and explained how they function.

The session was supplemented with practical recommendations drawn from the combat experience of sappers. They spoke about safety measures when explosive objects are detected, the procedure for acting in a potentially dangerous area, and the organisation of evacuating people.

"The most important thing when you find a suspicious object is not to try to inspect or move it yourself. Safety begins with the right algorithm of actions," the Centre's specialists noted.

During the final discussion, participants analysed practical scenarios, identified points that require further work, and outlined directions for improving their skills.

The session was conducted by Eduard Poltavskyi, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Tactical and Special Training and a combat veteran, together with specialists of the Demining Training Centre.
