Corporal Alevtyna Myronova, a member of the "Zakhyst (Defense)" Law Clinic of the ESI № 1 of NAIA, initiated the project for legal education "Aware of Law", which aims to form legal awareness, responsibility and increase the legal literacy of young people.
During two weeks, a third-year cadet conducted a series of events, cognitive conversations and trainings among school pupils of 6-10 grades in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.
The project involves several stages. The first stage assessed the level of awareness of minors in the field of law through testing and surveys. After the analysis of the collected data at the second stage the children informing complex, created by means of multimedia presentations and videos about legal standards and values on which the international system of human rights is based, was carried out.
In the third stage, the applicant organized educational conversations with children who systematically violate discipline and rules of conduct both in school and outside it. The talks covered the following topical issues: "Bullying", "The impact of bad habits on human health", "Legal liability of minors", etc.
The fourth stage involved effective communication with students by simulating different situations, during which students could express their views on future implementation of their legal knowledge. After the meetings, 20 high school students expressed a desire to link their lives with law and enroll in the National Academy of Internal Affairs.
"The number of offenses committed by minors is constantly increasing, and the prevention of such offenses at this age is a guarantee of compliance with laws in the future," – said the initiator of the project Alevtyna Myronova.
With this in mind, one of the key elements that ensure the implementation of the project "Aware of the law" is the provision of legal assistance to adolescents and increasing of the trust level to the police. For many times, after classes in the classroom, students asked the cadet for advice and help.
Therefore, the plans are to create a Telegram channel, which can be joined by all concerned, and cadets in turn will disseminate useful legal educational information, thereby increasing the sense of responsibility of the younger generation.
