The European Union Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine is implementing another project aimed at creating effective and sustainable training programs for leaders - both experienced and young leaders.

Within the framework of the Leadership Program, EUAM Ukraine is to cooperate with a special inter-agency expert group, which includes representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Dnipro, Donetsk, Lviv and Odesa State Universities of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutors' Training Center, the State Customs Service of Ukraine and central bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The group includes the Head of the International Cooperation Department, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Tetiana MATIUSHKOVA, and the Head of the Research Laboratory on the Problems of Legal Support of Police Activities and Combating Crime, Doctor of Law, Professor Kostiantyn BUHAICHUK, from KhNUIA.

The first phase of the Program involves the participation of experts in meetings, workshops and sessions on the exchange of experience with international and national specialists, as well as in the development of training programs. The expected result of the work will be the creation of a leadership training program, prepared on the basis of consultations and practical experience with the support of EUAM.

The first meeting of the group was held in a hybrid format. EUAM Ukraine was represented by HR Policy and Training Advisor/Trainer João FARIÁ (Portugal), Strategic Leadership, Education and Training Advisor Roman SZABO (Slovakia), HR Development Expert Viktoriia HRUSHYNA and Training Expert Oleksandra MAZUR.

After the organizers’ opening remarks, Roman SZABO conducted a motivational briefing “Development of a Leadership Program for Future Leaders and Senior Managers in Law Enforcement Agencies and Rule of Law Sector Institutions” and presented a presentation “Framework Program and Best Practices for Leadership Development”. KhNUIA representatives joined the discussions on effective examples of leadership practice and areas of leadership development in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. By the next meeting, the group participants should work on successful global approaches in order to implement them in the curriculum and contribute to the formation of sustainable and modern leadership in the civil security sector of Ukraine.
