Head of the International Cooperation Department Tetiana Matiushkova, Head of the Department of Regime and Secret Support Liudmyla Sobchenko, and lecturer of the Department of Combating Cybercrime of the ERI №4 Vadym Maltsev took part in the training course “Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Social Media Intelligence (SOCMINT),” organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The course focused on modern technical and operational approaches to conducting investigations using open-source information and social media. Participants deepened their understanding of methods for searching for, collecting, and analyzing data, as well as the specifics of applying these methods in law enforcement.

The training was conducted by Arm El-Rahman, an international expert on cybercrime at the UNU Regional Center for Combating Cybercrime in Doha (Qatar), with the participation of Kyryll Milev, a UNU specialist in crime prevention and criminal justice.

Participation in such international training programs enables university representatives to stay abreast of modern approaches to working with digital information and to apply the knowledge gained in their educational activities. In particular, the course materials can be incorporated when updating teaching and methodological resources in the areas of criminalistics, operational and investigative activities, criminal analysis, open-source intelligence, criminal intelligence, and intelligence and analytical work in the cyber domain. The practical insights gained will also contribute to improving the training of students at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs in utilizing OSINT and SOCMINT capabilities to detect, investigate, and prevent criminal offenses.
