EUAM Ukraine conducted a training of trainers course on the use of open source information (OSINT) and criminal investigations for the academic staff of the departments, research laboratories of the Educational and Research Institutes №1-4, as well as cadets of the Educational and Research Institutes №2-4 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

During four days, the participants got acquainted with the theoretical foundations of OSINT, mastered methods of searching, verifying and analyzing information from open sources, and studied more than 20 specialized OSINT tools, including: OSINT INDUSTRIES, DuckDuckGo, AI-OR-NOT, MythDetector, Have I Been Pwned, PINEYES, Metadata2Go, Pic2Map, FotoForensics, etc.

In the practical part of the training, the participants were divided into separate subgroups to complete individual tasks. This approach allowed the participants to apply the knowledge gained using specific tools to analyze real-life cases. The results of the training OSINT investigations were subsequently presented by each subgroup for discussion by all participants. The discussions that accompanied the project defenses contributed to a deeper understanding of the strengths and potential challenges of using OSINT tools in criminal investigations.

On the final day of the training, the participants were awarded certificates. On behalf of the Rector of KhNUIA Valerii Sokurenko, First Vice-Rector Viktor Vasylenko greeted the participants and thanked the trainers for organizing the event in wartime. He emphasized the importance of such training programs for the training of specialists in the field of criminal investigations. Viktor Vasylenko expressed hope that such trainings will continue, contributing to the development of professional skills of the university staff.
