Representatives of KhNUIA took part in the Week of Professionals in Latvia

The events were held at the State Police College of Latvia on the topic “The use of digital tools in police response - an innovative approach to improving public safety”. KhNUIA was represented by the First Vice-Rector Viktor Vasylenko, Head of the International Cooperation Department Tetiana Matiushkova, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure, Criminalistics and Forensics of the ERI # 5 Svitlana Lozova and Associate Professor of the Department of Tactical and Special Training of the ERI # 2 Tykhin Shevchenko.

Viktor Vasylenko familiarized the teachers and students of police education in Latvia with the peculiarities of police training under martial law, and Tetiana Matiushkova - with the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process of KhNUIA. Svitlana Lozova gave a lecture to the 3rd year cadets, during which she highlighted the main components of technical and forensic support for the investigation of crimes committed under martial law, the use of technical means during investigative (detective) actions, and the specifics of photo and video recording of evidence. Tykhin Shevchenko familiarized representatives of various practical units of the Latvian police with the current state and prospects of using UAVs in the educational process and in the work of law enforcement agencies in Ukraine. Each report was accompanied by practical examples of innovative approaches to police education at the university, improving public safety in various situations caused by martial law in Ukraine.

Representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs got acquainted with the separate structural units of the State Police College of Latvia: the center of postgraduate education, the dog training center, training grounds for criminalistics, special tactics, firearms training, etc. They also visited the Headquarters of the State Police and the Forensic Service Bureau of the Republic of Latvia, as well as the Special Police Battalion of the Resource and Crisis Management Department of the Main Police Administration (SUB ALFA) and the Technical Support Department of the State Police and Latvia.

They discussed with their Latvian colleagues the issues of possible cooperation in the exchange of experience in ensuring public order and security under martial law, conducting educational activities for police officers of the Republic of Latvia on the legislative consolidation of special powers of the police under martial law, the peculiarities of providing stabilization and evacuation measures by the police, observance of personal safety rules, use of modern technical means of recording information in order to identify, record and use evidence.

As a result of the visit, agreements were reached to continue and expand cooperation in the educational and scientific spheres between Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs and the State Police College of Latvia.
