Representatives of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs (OSUIA) — Olena Hrezina, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Analysis and Information Technologies, and Dmytro Lisnichenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics — took part in a three-day interactive training course entitled “Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Social Media Intelligence (SOCMINT) Methods (Basic Level)” in Lviv.

The training was organised by the Programme Office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Ukraine, with the participation of Amr El Rahwan, an expert from the UNODC Regional Centre for Combating Cybercrime in Doha.

The course combined theoretical training with practical exercises based on real-life scenarios.

The participation of OSUIA representatives in the training is of significant practical importance for further enhancing the educational process. The knowledge and skills acquired will be applied in teaching academic disciplines, developing scenario-based practical tasks, and introducing students to modern digital tools for information search, verification and analysis.

The integration of international experience and UNODC practical methodologies into the training of future law enforcement officers will contribute to developing their digital competence, analytical thinking, open-source research skills, and understanding of the legal and ethical boundaries governing the use of OSINT and SOCMINT in professional activities.
