From 6 to 11 July, academic staff of the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training, the Department of Professional and Special Disciplines, as well as instructors of the Odesa Police Training Centre "Police Academy" of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs (OSUIA), participated in the Mine Safety for Police: Train-the-Trainer Course.

The training was organized with the support of the international company Tetra Tech. The course was delivered by Mark Winfield (United Kingdom), Tetra Tech's Liaison Officer for the State Universities of Internal Affairs, who has extensive practical experience in humanitarian mine action and the training of law enforcement personnel.

Over the six-day programme, participants studied a broad range of topics related to mine safety and the response to explosive hazards. The curriculum included the classification of explosive hazards, identification of ammunition and explosive ordnance, risk assessment, recognition of ground indicators of explosive hazards, the application of the "5Cs" procedure (Confirm, Clear, Cordon, Control, Communicate), post-explosion response procedures, and the proper reporting of information to explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) units and investigative response teams.

Particular emphasis was placed on practical training sessions, during which participants developed their skills in identifying hazardous items, assessing operational situations, and responding safely in accordance with international standards.

The course concluded with a final written assessment and a practical examination. Upon successful completion, all participants were awarded certificates.
