On October 13, a solemn ceremony of taking an Oath of the Police Officer by the first-year cadets took place at Odessa State University of Internal Affairs.

After the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine, those present at the ceremony observed a minute of silence in memory of the military, law enforcement officers and volunteers who have died defending the freedom, territorial integrity and independence of our State.
Then came the exciting moment when the cadets uttered the words of the Oath of Allegiance to the Ukrainian people: «Realizing my high responsibility, I solemnly swear to serve Ukrainian people faithfully, to abide by the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine, to implement it, to respect and protect human rights and freedoms, the honor of the state, to carry a high rank of the police officer and to perform my duties with dignity".

Vyacheslav Abroskin, the Rector of the University, addressed to the freshmen with a welcoming speech: “The common goal of all police officers is to ensure law, order and peace in the state, to serve the society and protect every citizen. I am confident that you, dear freshmen, will faithfully perform your duties, protect human rights and freedoms in the name of preserving peace and tranquility in Ukraine".

Taking an Oath is an important stage in the lives of young police officers. And it is these moments full of emotions and excitement which will remain in their memory for a lifetime. Nevertheless, taking an Oath is just the beginning for the future defenders, honest and diligent training, acquisition and improvement of police skills are waiting for them.
Then each cadet was given a special police badge. At the end of the festive event, chasing a step, happy freshmen marched in front of the leadership of the University.
