НАВС

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs hosted events on the occasion of the swearing in of first-year cadets of the educational and research institutes and the Sumy branch as police officers. Taking the Oath is an important event that will be remembered for a lifetime.

With a minute of silence, the audience honored the memory and heroic deeds of law enforcement officers and military personnel who died defending Ukraine. Flowers were laid at the monuments to the fallen heroes.

The first-year students from almost all regions of Ukraine promised to serve the Ukrainian people faithfully, to observe the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, to implement them, to respect and protect human rights and freedoms, the honor of the state, to bear the high rank of police officer with dignity and to perform their duties in good faith. Many of them have parents, relatives or friends who serve in the Security and Defense Forces, protecting the independence and territorial integrity of our country. Unfortunately, there are also many whose parents were killed on the battlefield and laid down their lives for the sake of our future victory.
Preparing for university, the boys and girls studied hard, participated in international, national and regional competitions, and won prizes. Their high level of knowledge is confirmed by the results of the national multi-subject test and gold medals.

Many freshmen have outstanding achievements in sports. Among them are world, European, and Ukrainian champions, masters and candidates for masters of sports in freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, combat sambo, Cossack jousting, judo, karate, kickboxing, shooting, athletics, grappling, and more. They are members of the national teams of Ukraine.

The Rector of the university, Police General of the third rank Valerii Sokurenko, addressed the cadets with instructions, first of all, thanking the parents of the freshmen for supporting their children's choice to study at the university that trains personnel for the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine despite the war. “The academic staff of the university will do everything to train and educate you, the freshmen, so that you are ready to defend the rights and freedoms of citizens, the integrity and independence of our state,” the general said in his speech. ”The police today have a huge authority in society, comparable to that of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Previously, the police performed mainly forceful, coercive functions, today they help people evacuate from dangerous places, provide humanitarian assistance, demine territories, etc. Be worthy of our heroes who died fighting crime and the Russian aggressor. I am confident that each of you will become a real police officer in the shortest possible time, and you will fulfill the tasks set by the Minister of Internal Affairs and the leadership of the National Police with “excellent” marks. Serve and learn so that you are respected by people and protected by the Lord God! Glory to Ukraine!”
Sincere congratulations, hugs and flowers from parents and relatives awaited the freshmen at the end of the event.
We wish you inspiration, success and victories on your professional path, police officers of independent Ukraine!
