The meeting was held within the framework of cooperation between the University and Vinnytsia Regional Association of Local Self-Government Bodies. Valerii Sokurenko greeted the participants of the event, familiarized them with the activities of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, the tasks facing the university staff, and the prospects for the development of the higher education institution.
He spoke about the advantages of studying at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, the specialties in which specialists are trained and noted that many young men and women from Vinnytsia region study at the university. The Rector thanked their parents for supporting their children's choice to study at the university that trains personnel for the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine despite the difficult wartime.
Vice-rector of the university Oleksandr Muzychuk familiarized the representatives of local communities with the programs implemented by the higher education institution in Vinnytsia region. Among them is the Driving School for Persons with Disabilities. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. As Russia's aggression against Ukraine continues, the problem of social adaptation of combatants, many of whom have been injured and left with disabilities, is extremely acute. At the Driving School, they can learn to drive a manual car. Anyone who wants to master driving skills and get a category B driver's license for the first time can study here.
No less important and interesting is the Police Cadet Corps project, launched by the Main Department of the National Police in Vinnytsia Oblast and implemented at the university with the participation of the university's academic staff. Doctors of Science and professors within the project prepare young people for admission to higher education institutions with specific learning conditions. Students learn theoretical knowledge, study in specialized classrooms, gyms, get acquainted with samples of weapons, equipment, and other means used by police officers in their official activities, etc.
A branch of the University's Legal Clinic has been opened to provide free legal aid to the population of Vinnytsia region. Vitalii Naida, its coordinator and researcher at the Research Laboratory for Psychological Support of Law Enforcement, told more about its activities and the procedure for conducting consultations.
Assistant to the Rector Viktor Slysh noted that the university pays great attention to early career guidance for young people: it visits schools and lyceums, introduces high school students to the specialties in which the university trains police officers. He also urged future applicants and their parents to contact the university's specialists in advance to receive important information for applicants. The assistant rector emphasized that the staff of the recruitment and career guidance department, with the participation of university specialists and cadets, will visit schools in local communities and conduct career guidance activities during the academic year.
Viktor Vikaliuk, Head of the Secretariat of Vinnytsia Oblast Association of Local Self-Government Bodies, thanked the Rector for the informative meeting and active cooperation of the university staff with local self-government bodies.
