LvSUIA Rector took part in online meeting on Strategic Analysis of EUAM Activity

Rector of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs Roman BLAHUTA took part in a meeting with representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine.

EUAM representatives from Brussels and law enforcement officers from Lviv, Odesa and Donetsk region were online. Work of the Mission in Ukraine and its cooperation with National Police and higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was the topic of discussion.

LvSUIA & EUAM Ukraine join activities have their origin from July 2016. Certain measures have been implemented over five years with EUAM assistance.

Particularly, interactive range on the basis of Educational Training Department “Vereshchytsia” and a methodical room for criminal analysis was created in accordance with the project “Expanding the capacity of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs to implement interactive modular trainings”.

LvSUIA Rector Roman BLAHUTA said that “Usage of equipped premises contributes to the improvement of methods of teaching professional disciplines and advanced training courses”. “It has helped us to create a favorable environment for knowledge acquisition and to provide quality training for higher education students”.

In May 2019 “Situation Center” training range was officially opened at the university with participation of the EUAM.

With the assistance of the Mission, in September 2017, LvSUIA representatives took part in an interactive training held at Austrian Police Academy in Vienna.

For three years, from 2017 to 2019, Advisory Mission co-organized international scientific and practical conferences “Theory and Practice of Combating Crime in Modern Conditions”, and its representatives participated in events as speakers and experts.

Executive Committee of Association of European Police Colleges meeting was held last year on the basis of LvSUIA with the support of EUAM.

Roman BLAHUTA mentioned that trainers of the Mission conducted at university a lot of lessons and trainings, in which National Police of Ukraine representatives also took part. These include leadership and management training for mid-level police chiefs; training for forensic inspectors; criminal analysis training; to improve the work of investigative and operational groups at the crime scene; training on working with the public to combat conflict situations; training on public order; on police-community interaction; training on “Modern teaching methods”; training in preventing and combating domestic violence; on the Scandinavian model of ensuring public order during a mass gathering of people; forensic photography for forensic inspectors using the best practices of the European Union.
