Oleksii Serdiuk, Head of the Research Laboratory of Social and Psychological Support, Assistance and Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (NPC in the field of Civilian Security for Society on the basis of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs), took part in the training event Practical Aspects of Participation in the Horizon Europe Programme, which took place on 30 October 2024 in Kyiv. The event was timed to the first anniversary of the opening of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine on the basis of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine as a key National Contact Point of the Horizon Europe Framework Programme.

The event was organised to present information on the results of the work of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine and its main achievements. The participants were introduced to the current issues of Ukraine's participation in the Horizon Europe Programme. In particular, special attention was paid to the opportunities for Ukrainian researchers and innovators within the framework of the first direction ‘Advanced Europe’, the second direction ‘Global challenges and European industrial competitiveness’ (which includes cluster 3 - Civil security for society), the third direction ‘Innovative Europe’, the research and training programme ‘Euratom’, as well as other EU support instruments.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the European Commission, international research institutes and complementary programmes. The participants talked with like-minded people about the practical possibilities of implementing the Horizon Europe Programme, participation of Ukrainian organisations in it and thus integrating Ukraine into the European research area.
