On the eve of the Day of Physical Culture and Sports, employees of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work held a number of informational and educational events for higher education applicants of the ERI No. 1-5 and KFC of KhNUIA.

The main event was a meeting with the Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in boxing Denys Solonenko - the champion of Ukraine and the owner of the Cup of Ukraine, a participant in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) as part of the Ukrainian Atamans team and the XXXI Summer Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

The athlete shared his own experience of professional performances, talked about preparing for all-Ukrainian and international competitions and participation in the Olympics. He also focused on the challenges that accompanied his sports career, in particular injuries and recovery after them.

“There are moments in sports when it seems that there is no strength left and it is difficult to continue, but that is when character is tested. Injuries, defeats, exhausting training are all part of the journey. It is important not to look for excuses, but to work further, set new goals and move towards them,” said Denys Solonenko.

He also emphasized that a high result is the result of daily work. Discipline, endurance and responsibility, according to him, are often no less important than natural abilities.

The communication took place in the format of an open dialogue. Young people asked the guest questions, tested their knowledge during a sports quiz and received memorable souvenirs for correct answers.

In addition to meeting with the athlete, information and educational hours were held for students dedicated to the importance of physical activity, endurance and self-discipline. During them, they remembered Ukrainian athletes who gave their lives defending Ukraine, and spoke about the strength of spirit that helps to overcome difficult trials.

For cadets and students, the meeting with the titled boxer was an opportunity to see that behind high sporting achievements are daily work, discipline and the ability to overcome difficulties. These qualities are also important for future specialists, because professional activity requires endurance, physical fitness, responsibility and the ability to act confidently in difficult situations.
